James D. McDermott, born Huntington, West Virginia, August 5, 1932; admitted to West Virginia Bar, 1959; admitted to practice before Federal District Courts in Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia; admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. Education : Xavier University (B.S in B.A. accounting major) 1954; West Virginia University (LL.B.) 1959; Associate Editor, West Virginia Law Review; Koontz Scholarship 1959. Military Service 1954-56 1st Lieutenant; honorable discharge from Reserves as Captain 1965.
President, Ohio County Bar Association 1981-1982; Member of the Ohio County Bar Association, The West Virginia State Bar.
General Counsel and member of board of directors of Farm Fresh, Inc. and State Food Stores, Inc.; past president of Ohio County chapter of the American Cancer Society. Served as a Fire Commissioner for the City of Wheeling and taught the Insurance Section of the CPCU exam at a local college.
